আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক এবং সড়ক পরিবহন ও সেতুমন্ত্রী ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেছেন, গ্যাস-পানির সামান্য মূল্য বৃদ্ধিতে জনগণের ভোগান্তি হবে না। উৎপাদনের খরচ সমন্বয়ের জন্য পানির দাম বৃদ্ধি করা হয়েছে।
শনিবার আওয়ামী লীগ সভাপতি শেখ হাসিনার ধানমন্ডিস্থ রাজনৈতিক কার্যালয়ে আয়োজিত সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এক প্রশ্নের জবাবে তিনি এ কথা বলেন।
বিদ্যুৎ ও পানির মূল্য বৃদ্ধি-সংক্রান্ত সাংবাদিকদের এক প্রশ্নের জবাবে আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক বলেন, পানি ও বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহ নিশ্চিত করতেই কিছুটা দাম বাড়ানো হয়েছে। কারণ সরকার বিদ্যুতে যেমন ভর্তুকি দিচ্ছে পানিতেও সেরকম ভর্তুকি দেয়া লাগছে।
তিনি বলেন, মুজিববর্ষে আমরা শতভাগ বিদ্যুতের ব্যবহার নিশ্চিত করতে চাই। প্রত্যেক ঘরে আমরা বিদ্যুতের আলো জ্বালাতে চাই। সামনে গরমের সিজন, লোকজন যেন কষ্ট না পায় সেজন্য আমরা বিদ্যুৎ ব্যবস্থা নিরবচ্ছিন্ন করতে চাই। একটু কষ্ট হলেও জনগণ এর সুবিধা পাবে।
দলের চেয়ারপারসন বেগম খালেদা জিয়ার জামিন বিষয়ে আদালতের বিরুদ্ধে অঘোষিত যুদ্ধ বিএনপি চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে মন্তব্য করে ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেন, বিএনপি কার বিরুদ্ধে বিক্ষোভ করছে? তারা বিক্ষোভ করছে আদালতের বিরুদ্ধে। এ বিক্ষোভ কোন রাজনৈতিক নেতাদের বা দলের বিরুদ্ধে নয়। আদালত বেগম খালেদা জিয়াকে জামিন দেয়নি বলেই তারা এ কর্মসূচি পালন করছে। এটা আদালতের বিরুদ্ধে অঘোষিত একটা কর্মসূচি।
অপকর্ম, সন্ত্রাস, দুর্নীতি ও মাদকের সঙ্গে যারাই জড়িত তারা নজরদারিতে আছেন জানিয়ে আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক বলেন, শুধু পাপিয়া নয়, অপকর্ম, সন্ত্রাস, দুর্নীতি ও মাদকের সঙ্গে যারাই জড়িত তারা নজরদারিতে আছেন। এছাড়া পাপিয়াদের পিছনে যারা আছেন তারাও নজরদারির বাইরে নয়। টার্গেট পূরণ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত অভিযান অব্যাহত থাকবে।
করোনাভাইরাস পরিস্থিতি উন্নতি না হলে পদ্মা সেতু নির্মাণকাজে কিছুটা সমস্যা হতে পারে জানিয়ে সেতুমন্ত্রী বলেন, প্রায় এক হাজারের মতো চীনের অধিবাসী পদ্মা সেতুতে কাজ করে। এখান থেকে ১৫০ জন ছুটিতে দেশে গেছেন। যদি দুই মাসের মধ্যে করোনাভাইরাসের কোনো উন্নতি না হয় তাহলে পদ্মা সেতুর কাজে সামান্য বিঘ্ন ঘটবে।
